hile “alternative” bridal looks continually receive coverage in the media, often fueled by celebrity engagements, classic bridal looks, when thoughtfully considered and expertly crafted, can be every bit as captivating as less traditional silhouettes. Many of the COUTURE designers and brands that create bridal jewelry maintain a classic aesthetic while incorporating subtle design elements that enhance the romance of the piece and create unique stories that the bride-to-be can celebrate for a lifetime.

Tacori
Los Angeles-based Tacori’s signature Crescent Fabric design detail is incorporated into each of their pieces in a variety of ways. Sculpted into the metal, revealing windows of light, or enhanced with diamond accents, this heart shaped pattern is a mark of Tacori’s heritage. In addition to a number of classic collections, such as their Founders collection, which features rings with clean lines and elegant simplicity, or their lacy, charming Dantela collection (Dantela translates to “lace” in Romanian), Tacori also offers their clients the opportunity to customize their engagement ring to their exact specifications. The brand also breaks with tradition in offering East/West settings, vintage inspired collections and colored gemstone details and eternity bands.

Mark Patterson
As we mentioned in a previous Brand Spotlight, Mark and Josette Patterson have been quietly collaborating and spearheading innovations under the Mark Patterson brand name for over 35 years. While the body of work of this prolific designing duo extends beyond bridal, they are considered doyens in engagement and bridal jewelry. The couple continually pushes the boundaries of expectations, and the clean simplicity of their bridal pieces belies the sophistication and technical acumen inherent in each of their creations. By fusing platinum with rose gold, or bezel setting each of the diamonds in a classic three-stone engagement ring, or setting their center stones at an angle, their work showcases a contemporary design sensibility within the framework of a traditional aesthetic.

Kwiat
Founded in New York City in 1907, family-owned brand Kwiat has become one of the most highly-respected diamond houses in the world. Since its inception, the brand has been a pioneer in the jewelry industry. Their mastery of diamond cutting is evident in their contemporary collection of red carpet-worthy (or wedding day-worthy!) jewelry and engagement and wedding rings, which all feature exquisite, show-stopping diamonds or exceptional colored gemstones. In 2009, Kwiat acquired Fred Leighton, a premier curator of antique and vintage jewelry, in order to expand its offerings of extraordinary gemstones. This also offered the opportunity to include unique, vintage engagement rings in their extensive collection of breathtaking bridal jewelry.
