Beyond the Brilliance: How Jewelers for Children Is Changing Lives

O
ver the past 27 years, Jewelers for Children (JFC) has donated more than $65 million to non-profit organizations helping kids facing impossible circumstances. Spearheaded by its impassioned Executive Director, Sara Murphy, and supported by a very involved board of directors (of which our own Gannon Brousseau is a new member!), their grantees and partners are carefully and thoughtfully selected, ensuring that everyone who opts to show JFC support can rest assured they’re making a real difference.

If reading about all this good work makes you feel warm and fuzzy, it should. According to Sara, we can all take some of the credit.

JFC funded a research project at St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital that resulted in a cure for Sickle Cell Anemia. Last year alone they funded 22 wishes through Make-A-Wish in the United States while Make-A-Wish India was the recipient of over 200 wishes, many for kids who live in residential hospitals and need access to things like computers. JFC remains the largest non-governmental funder of Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, and they are the largest corporate funder of Organization for Autism Research, doubling their grant this year.

In 2025, JFC added four new partners to serve children facing an expanded panoply of challenges. No Kid Hungry addresses food insecurity across the United States, Ticket to Dream Foundation makes sure kids in foster care have the building blocks of childhood, Boys and Girls Clubs of America helps kids build the skills they need for the next step in their lives, and Reach out and Read ensures kids learn to read through community and family support, before it’s too late.

If reading about all this good work makes you feel warm and fuzzy, it should. According to Sara, we can all take some of the credit. As she told me during a recording of the COUTURE Podcast last year, “I think it’s important that everyone remembers that if you are a part of the industry in any way, JFC is yours. JFC belongs to the jewelry industry. It doesn’t belong to me, it doesn’t belong to the board, it belongs to everyone who actively participates in jewelry. And I think what that means is you already are involved.”

COUTURE was proud to partner with JFC to grant a wish during our 2025 event. Through JFC and Make-A-Wish, Nevada, we were honored to welcome a young woman named Aubry to COUTURE. The self-described fan of stuffed animals was thrilled to receive a gold teddy bear charm bracelet accompanied by a hand blown glass teddy bear sculpture, compliments of Heather Moore. Knowing that Aubry’s wish was a trip to Morrocco, Heather even had the coordinates of Marrakesh stamped on a tag on the bracelet.

Following the emotional presentation at the Heather B. Moore salon, along with her mom and her best friend, Aubry was given a guided through the show floor by COUTURE’s VP of Marketing, Erin O’Donnell. They visited designers like Victor Velyan, Buddha Mama and Jorge Adeler, and saw a demonstration by a bench jeweler in the Marco Bicego Ballroom. That night, at the COUTURE Design Awards, Gannon Brousseau announced to Aubry and to great applause in a packed Encore Theater that her wish was coming true, she is going to Morocco.

The enthusiasm showcased by everyone who helped make Aubry feel special and celebrated was truly heartening. This community demonstrated that its exemplary generosity could greatly benefit Jewelers for Children, and with that, children who face unimaginable challenges. And JFC makes it a breeze, like Rounding up for JFC, which is easy and costs nothing. And with 84% of consumers saying that it’s important to them that where they shop is charitable, doing JFC Round-Up is a visible display of your commitment to JFC and its partners.

The organization’s annual Facets of Hope Dinner in Las Vegas is another way to show support, and they’re continually coming up with clever ideas for raising money and awareness, including this October’s first annual JFC Month. Sara is also game to explore creative ideas and imaginative approaches, always open and excited to employ innovative ideas that serve to support these kids.
