THE DESIGN AWARDS The COUTURE Design Awards are here!

COUTURE Design Awards are one of the highlights of COUTURE each year. All of the pieces entered into this prestigious design competition are on display in the design awards hallway in a museum-quality display. This dazzling collection of jewelry is demonstrative of what happens when our most creative minds stretch the boundaries of design.

A unique panel made up of two retailers, two editors and one fellow designer judge each piece on a criteria that includes design, craftsmanship and salability. The judges vote for the winning pieces during The COUTURE Show, and winners are announced at the COUTURE Design Awards celebration on Saturday evening. Our entire retailer community votes for the three finalists in the “Peoples’ Choice Award,” and the winner is voted on by text at the COUTURE Design Awards event.

Meet The Judges

Nikos Koulis

Koulis is a Greek designer with worldwide recognition and success. Coming from an established family business in jewelry, he studied Gemology and Glyptography in the Gemological Institute of America and created his own brand, Nikos Koulis Jewels, in 2006, showcasing his elaborate technique along with his deep knowledge in the quality jewelry making. His atelier is in Athens and has two boutiques in Athens and Mykonos, which reflect the distinct aesthetic of his work. Having his own workshops and sourcing exquisite stones in special cuts from all around the world, he creates unique pieces for an international clientele who collect jewelry and appraise his quality and aesthetic ethos. His creations possess a timeless aura that radiates nowness, aiming at an iconic future.

Juliet de La Rochefoucauld

Juliet de La Rouchefoucauld is an author of several books '21st Century Jewellery Designers - An Inspired Style'; 'Women Jewellery Designers' (both of which have been translated into French), these books have been the fruit of many meetings with true artists, archivists and those in the jewellery profession who are passionate about their work and it has been this enthusiasm which has inspired her to convey in a small way the skill, diversity, culture and artistry which are all part of the world of jewellery and jewellery design. She is also co-author of several monographs relating to various jewellery designers including Wallace Chan’s recent book ‘Winged Beauty’. Living in Paris, she worked with the 'commissaire priseur' system at Drouot before starting to lecture and write about all things jewellery related.

Tanika Wisdom

Having graduated from University of the Creative Arts with a BA in Fashion Management and Marketing, Tanika Wisdom began her buying career at a well known boutique retailer (Browns Fashion) working across all categories before focusing in on her true passion, Fine Jewellery. In 2019, Tanika joined the MATCHESFASHION team as Buyer for Fine Jewellery and Accessories and has overseen an expansion in our fine jewellery buy, introducing fine watches and collaborating closely with brands to offer a unique edit and one of a kind pieces.

Diana Schade

Though you may recognize her as @for_the_love_of_gold, Saks Fifth Avenue fine jewelry buyer Diana Schade has worked over 20 years in the jewelry industry. From her teenage years at an independent jewelry store to the Fashion Institute of Technology, where she graduated with a degree in Merchandising Management, Diana translated her skills, knowledge, and taste to buying positions with Bloomingdales and Saks Fifth Avenue. For ten years, she has been sharing her passion for fine jewelry at Saks with a focus on engaging style advisors, specifically through social media. Diana is also an Applied Jewelry Professional (GIA), jewelry consultant and currently resides in New York City.
