rgentina-born, New York City-based artist Rosario Navia is debuting her diamond and 18k gold collection in COUTURE’s Design Atelier this year. Her pieces reimagine diamond essential jewelry with unexpected silhouettes and imaginative combinations of diamond cuts. Rosario is endlessly inspired by her Latin heritage and the strong women who have influenced her world view, and she applies her background and experience in fashion to the development of her collections, and in the thoughtful creation of her brand messaging. Her “about last night” aesthetic can be seen in her marketing and social media campaigns, where she evokes a sense of the chic grunge glamor of the late 90’s and early aughts, inspiring a gender neutral embrace of diamonds as cool kid aesthetic.

9:00am—Mornings Aren’t My Thing
To start, I should probably admit that I am not a morning person…so today, like all mornings, starts with a black tea to wake me up. (Fun fact- I stopped drinking coffee 12 years ago!) Today I accompany my tea with a New York bagel covered in dulce de leche which is by far my favorite thing to eat for breakfast. You can take the girl out of Argentina, but you can’t change her taste buds 😉
While enjoying my breakfast, I prepped for the day by going over my To Do list.

10:00am—It’s Better With Bravo On
After breakfast, I headed to my office and began to put together client orders for production. Sorting diamonds and writing detailed notes on each design we need to produce. And because today I’m alone in the office, I turned on Bravo’s Summer House in the background to keep me company! I’m a big fan of everything on Bravo but Summer House resonates the most because they’re fellow New Yorkers….and honestly, it reminds me of all the summers spent in the Hamptons in my 20s.

Noon—Diamond District Chronicles
By noon I made it to the Diamond District to start my rounds. You could say this is my second home…
My first stop was our production office where I dropped off the orders I worked on this morning and checked in with our bench jewelers. It’s always cool to stop by our production office because I get to see how each piece is taking shape!

1:00 pm—Bespoke Design
After giving some production notes, I’m off to source diamonds for a bespoke piece I’m working on. Sourcing stones is one of my favorite parts of the job and one I am extremely hands-on with. I fell in love with diamonds and colored stones while I studied Gemology at GIA. Today I sourced oval shaped natural diamonds and wow did I find some amazing ones! See for yourself 😉

2:00 pm—COUTURE Ready
Since we’re just one month away from our COUTURE debut, I squeezed in a meeting with our display and packaging partners to ensure that our new displays are on track for COUTURE. I cannot wait to see our salon all set up and ready to go in Vegas! (Come check us out, DA-35!)

3:00 pm—Retail Therapy
After all that running around, I treated myself with a stop at Sephora, which is conveniently located on the corner of the Diamond District. I picked up brow gel and spent some time browsing the shelves for things I didn’t need but got, per usual. Skin care, like jewelry, is one of my guilty pleasures!

4:00 pm—Who Are You Wearing?
My last stop of the day took me away from the Diamond District and back to my previous life of fashion, where I picked up an assortment of our jewelry from a fashion stylist. She had pulled a selection of our designs for her client’s press event the previous weekend. I love seeing our jewelry out in the wild so pulls like these are my favorite.

5:00 pm
Back at the office I spent the rest of the day shooting content for Instagram, editing the images, and posting. Most of my camera roll is groupings of essentially the same images…but I’m sure you imagined so. It’s really not as easy to get the perfect shot as we all make it out to be!
More importantly, I finished my workday reviewing CADs of new projects…some of which are making their debut at COUTURE 😉

7:00 pm—It’s Definitely 5 o’clock somewhere…
I’m sure by this time of day you are thinking what I’m thinking…it’s time for a cocktail with my longest friend in the industry! Since tonight was such a nice night, we got to enjoy sitting outside while we debriefed about our days in the Diamond District.
What’s my drink of choice, you ask? A spicy margarita 🌶️

11:00 pm—Night Owl
I always finish my night with some late night inspiration. Like a true night owl, I design my best pieces at night. Tonight I worked on a new chain design that I am super excited about!
