The name ANEKA is derived in part from the Sanskrit words anek (many) and ek (one), symbolizing the beautiful confluence of the uniqueness of one into the complexity of all, and conveying values like strength, grace, vibrancy, power, harmony and love across many languages and cultures.
When first setting out to launch the brand, CEO, Ankit Mehta and Chairman, Philippe Nobile wanted to pay homage to those who are changing the order of society and the world in a variety of fields. Looking to thought-leaders in specialties from technology to education to diplomacy and everything in between, they strive to express their sense of passion and empathy through fresh, contemporary designs.
Leveraging input from this range of ambassadors, whom they call “friends of the maison” and who are, in fact, the “A listers” of their particular genres, the brand is continually immersing themselves in these perspectives of people who are making a positive impact on the world. They learn from and get inspired by a diverse range of individuals such as humanitarian-athlete, Maria Conceição and interdisciplinary artists Neil Ghose and Doyel Joshi.
They use these stories as motivation for their designs, and coupling their know-how in traditional design and state-of-the-art technology with their belief in the best of humanity, they create jewelry that is both sophisticated and exultant.
The collections tap into this extensive catalogue of emotions and cultural mores, with Sero symbolizing the art of embroidery and depicting the threads and patterns of connection between relationships, while Poetry in Motion captures passion through musical anklets worn by dancers.
Diversa celebrates the diversity of the human experience, with varied diamond cuts illustrative of a range of emotions and sensibilities, and Chakra showcases the potency of a single item, a spinning wheel, in becoming the centrifugal force of the non-violent movement led by Mahatma Gandhi in the campaign for India’s independence.
The brand utilizes only pure, 18k recycled gold, the finest diamonds, and meticulously selected gemstones such as Zambian emeralds, Akoya pearls and sapphires in their designs. Expertly crafted enamel and color stone inlay establish balance and dimension to their oeuvre, which is continually expanding with jewelry that is both contemporary and collectible.
A fully vertically integrated maison, all pieces are fabricated in their in-house atelier by master craftspeople who spend several months to a year painstakingly shepherding each piece through all touch points of the process and safeguarding the integrity of the designs with exceptional care and vigilant attention to detail.
In addition to working with select retailers, the brand boasts two stores. With headquarters in both Paris and Mumbai, ANEKA can be found at its first-of-its-kind flagship boutique in Kala Ghoda, Mumbai’s premier art district, opened in 2022. In 2024, they expanded into a luxury shop-in-shop in Paris’ celebrated luxury department store, Le Printemps Haussmann.
