orld-renown for their expertise in rare and exotic diamonds, the reverence with which J. Fine regards natural pink diamonds is evident in the handmade and bespoke pieces that beautifully showcase these incredibly rare gems. The brand has been built upon the passion of its founder, Jordan Fine, who considers each individual diamond with which he works worthy of a masterpiece. Having married into the jewelry business, Jordan forgot any previous interest in his career in tech when he first encountered a pink diamond. His interest piqued, he embarked on an all-consuming journey of exploration and discovery, learning everything he could about these fascinating gems and establishing a reputation for knowledge and integrity in the exclusive niche of pink diamond specialists.

The finest pink diamonds in the world come from only one place, the Argyle Mine. Located in the remote wilderness of Western Australia, the Argyle Mine produces 90% of the annual supply of rare pink diamonds. These diamonds are so rare, in fact, that all of the pink diamonds mined in a year weighing a half carat or more could fit in the palm of one’s hand. J. Fine is an authorized partner of Argyle PinkÔ Diamonds, one of only two COUTURE brands that have that distinction. As such, J. Fine has privileged access to the rarest diamonds on earth in shades from cherry blossom pink, to cornflower blue, to luscious violets and velvety red hues, with pinks being the most intriguing.

The Argyle Mine closed in 2020, rendering the existing Argyle pinks increasingly rarer and more valuable. The closure is considered a devastating loss among its exclusive partners, who are saddened to know that the tender taking place this year will be the last auction of the final bounty of pinks unearthed from this epic mine. Jordan was present for the tender showcase in Antwerp in early August and told us that it was an awe-inspiring “final collection” of 70 diamonds in a spectrum of red and pink intensities found only at Argyle. This year, they also revealed a “once in a blue moon tender,” with the finest blue and violet diamonds unearthed at the mine over the last five years. “It is certainly a standout in tender history with a large number of stones over one carat, including The Argyle Eclipse, at 3.47cts, the largest intense pink diamond ever presented at tender,” Jordan explained.

Asked about his experience at the tender viewing on both a professional and a personal level, now that the mine has closed, Jordan emoted, “Sitting in the viewing room adjacent to another longtime collector, and dining with a few others in town was a treat. Not only was it nice to see everyone after more than a year and a half of lockdown, but the memories everyone shared about their favorite stones, tender experiences, and love of Argyle Pinks I will remember forever. All of us around the table were delighted to see the final collection.” While filled with a sense of camaraderie, Jordan did not forget the practical reasons for being there and admitted, “Since some of us will be bidding on the same stones, I can’t say we went into too much detail on ‘our favorites’ from this year!”

Many of the pieces J. Fine will showcase in their salon during their COUTURE debut will feature some of the last pink diamonds in the world. Their wearable pieces highlight these stunning, collectable diamonds in sexy, sophisticated silhouettes with clean, delicate detail. From engagement rings and stackable bands, to sexy drop earrings and dramatic cocktail rings, J. Fine’s designs are driven by their devotion to the rarified characteristics of natural pink diamonds.
