A graduate of Parsons School of Design, Jen was originally on a steady course of architecture and interior design, realizing great success in designing interior spaces for investment properties. While she enjoyed working with light and shadows on large scales to achieve her intended effect and had a natural ease in establishing a well-appointed calm and serenity in designing bespoke environments, she was continually drawn to the macro characteristics of adornment.

Her need to explore this aspect of her creativity coupled with her curiosity about the artform led her to take classes at Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), where she honed her skills in a variety of disciplines. Within the workspace she had tucked into a converted closet in her Tribeca home, Jen soon discovered that she could apply many of the same principles of her interior design acumen into small scale sculptures, and eventually what she once considered a pastime overtook her other creative pursuits and she leaned in fully to building a business out of jewelry design.

Jen’s lavish use of gold throughout JV Insardi’s collections exemplifies a sense of gravitas inherent in her work. Her estimation of the noble metal as the ultimate symbol of luxury is buttressed by her knowledge of its attributes. She showcases her reverence for its capabilities in the balance and precision of her designs, highlighting its malleability with every thoughtful line and curve.

She believes in jewelry’s transcendental powers, the appeal it has on both a conscious and subconscious level, its ability to ground and serve as a reminder to be in the present in every fleeting moment. She honors the solemnity of these convictions by putting the utmost intention into every element of her designs.

JV Insardi collections are illustrative of Jen’s earnest commitment to creating exceptionally crafted pieces. While her distinct aesthetic is stylish, creating de rigueur collections is not her primary motivation. Rather than focusing on trends, she strives for her pieces to be perennially chic, classically sophisticated, and she wants collectors of her work to be as excited about wearing a piece in 20 years as they are when they first acquire it. Her physical approach to the creative process allows her to be deliberate about every touchpoint, to understand how each piece will feel when being worn and what it will evoke in the wearer.

Jen makes pieces to be worn to express a mood or a moment in time, a statement of one’s essential self, either subtle or overt, that resonates on a deeply personal level. When conceiving her designs and the way they may be worn, an archetypical collector of her work is elusive in her mind’s eye.

She envisions women of all ages wearing her jewelry in a way that is personal to them and considers a well-styled woman of any age aspirational and admirable, “I want to be 80 and still wear gorgeous pieces of jewelry,” Jen enthused. “Women can express themselves through fashion and art their entire lives!”
