hile designer Kate Maller’s discovery of metalsmithing was serendipitous, her love for the art form was instantaneous. Originally gifted a hobbyist course by her husband, a fine gem and mineral dealer, while she was pursuing dual master’s degrees in architecture and landscape architecture, Kate loved the tactile experience of working with metal, and the sensation of forging something of permanence with her hands satisfied her on a visceral level. The possibilities inherent in the craft also appealed to her boundless curiosity and her inexhaustible drive to obtain knowledge and improve her skillset.
Inspired by landscapes, both pastoral and urban, there is a vibrancy to her designs that stems from her reverence for her environment, for beauty in its many forms.

A passionate advocate for environmental and social justice from a young age, Kate has always felt a deep connection with the outdoors. She was originally drawn to architecture and landscape architecture because she wanted to design buildings and environments that make a difference and are in harmony with their surroundings, enhancing the beauty of nature while embracing its flaws. Having continued to lean on metalsmithing as a source of relaxation and escape over the years, Kate’s resounding love for the craft was deepening. She had also been honing her acumen for design and fabrication and, in 2017, she embarked on a new creative calling and launched her eponymous brand.

As an architect, Kate had a penchant for minimalist, organic design. As a jewelry artist, she conveys similar themes in her work, highlighting organic forms and balanced lines. Taking a nod from the raw beauty of nature, her work also evokes a bold sophistication. Inspired by landscapes, both pastoral and urban, there is a vibrancy to her designs that stems from her reverence for her environment, for beauty in its many forms.

Each piece of Kate Maller Jewelry is designed by Kate and produced entirely in-house in her Denver studio. Kate, alongside a team of skilled artisans, produces each component of her work by hand, from clasps to wires. The processes they employ are painstaking, yet the resulting craftsmanship is incomparable. The imprint of the maker can be seen in the faint nuances elemental in truly hand-crafted, artisanal jewelry, and the precision and care applied to each stage of the fabrication process is evident in the heirloom quality of the work.

Crafted in 18k, 22k gold and oxidized Argentium silver, and using only recycled and ethically sourced materials, Kate Maller Jewelry imparts understated luxury, its brilliance rooted in the subtlety and perfection of its details.
