A
reverence and respect for the sublime characteristics of exquisitely colored gemstones is evident throughout the work of celebrated Brazilian jewelry designer, Ruth Greico. Thoughtful and intentional with her designs, she has been showcasing the resplendence of the gems of her native country in bold and vibrant jewelry since 1975. Fully enamored of her surrounding culture, Ruth draws inspiration from her lifestyle and her personal experiences. Her daughters, Carolina and Paola, both graduates of Industrial Design, joined the company in 1990 and now respectively serve as marketing director and production supervisor while Ruth maintains the mantle of aesthetic ambassador as the brand’s Creative Director.
Ruth’s work exudes a spirit of joy and an embrace of life, with color combinations delighting the eye and complementing the natural beauty of the wearer.

Working in 18kt gold, colored gemstones play the starring role in the majority of Ruth’s body of work. Geometric forms combine with organic shapes, and the natural lines and curves of the gemstones with which she works dictate her creative process. Even in pieces that are diamond or metal-intensive, Ruth incorporates a sense of movement and fluidity that is reflective of the ebullience of Brazilian culture. Carefully hand-selecting each of the stones with which she works, the impeccable craftsmanship of her creations renders them heirloom quality, offering the ability to pass down both a gorgeous piece, and the stories behind it, for generations. Ruth’s work exudes a spirit of joy and an embrace of life, with color combinations delighting the eye and complementing the natural beauty of the wearer.

Ruth has amassed a number of accolades over the years including multiple Tahitian Pearl Trophies, the Tanzanite Celebration of Life Award, the Embrarad Award for Jewelry Design and the Anglogold Design Forum. She has also been a finalist in HRD’s Diamonds are Fun Contest, IBGM Awards, and IF Design Awards. Additionally, Ruth was the subject of a lavishly illustrated book by Parisian journalist, Didier Brodbeck entitled, Ruth Grieco–Romancing the Stones. These international recognitions only inspire the designer to continue to evolve creatively, pushing the boundaries of her accomplishments and reaching new heights of design acumen.

Ruth is the personification of the women who collect her jewelry. Gracious and refined, her elegant style is enhanced by the pops of color that come alive in her jewelry.
