Brand Spotlight: Viltier

F
rench fine jewelry brand, Viltier, was born out of an authentic passion for the art form coupled with a desire to perpetuate Parisienne savoir fair. Launched by friends Iris de La Villardière and Thomas Montier Leboucher, the two were both working in the industry and found that the majority of their conversations focused on their mutual fascination with fine jewelry. They quickly began to realize that, while there were so many designers whose work they admired launching internationally, very few were coming out of Paris. With a shared dream of creating jewelry that paid homage to the past while also creating a more fair and inclusive future through a principled approach to design and business, the two launched Viltier.

This penchant for inclusiveness is a common theme in their business and is expressed in the materials they utilize and the transparency and ethical practices that the company embodies.

The brand’s jewelry evokes a sense of joyfulness and curiosity. The duo does not feel beholden to traditional constructs of beauty, which results in a spontaneity in their creative process. Free to design with abandon, they find inspiration all around them, taking cues from art, architecture, nature and humanity. With Iris sketching and Thomas rigorously overseeing every minuscule detail of production, the collections are a reflection of individuality working in graceful tandem. While their jewelry is elegant and sophisticated, it has an inherent warmth and approachability that has cross generational appeal for any gender.

This penchant for inclusiveness is a common theme in their business and is expressed in the materials they utilize and the transparency and ethical practices that the company embodies. Using only recycled or fairmined gold in their work, they view luxury and sustainability as inseparable concepts and believe that sustainability should be an essential component of any luxury brand. “We feel that it is the responsibility of luxury brands to pave the way for a more sustainable way of producing and behaving,” they stated.

Working in 18k gold with diamonds, gemstones and enamel, each piece is handmade by talented artisans in their Parisian atelier. The un-compromised craftsmanship in their work echoes old European standards of excellence which they expertly combine with a fresh, modern sensibility.

Their showroom, which was once an apartment that belonged to the inimitable architect and designer, Charlotte Perriand, serves as an extension of their brand. Designed in collaboration with contemporary French architect, Fanny Perrier of Studio Perrier, this inspiring, private salon space offers clients the ability to experience the beauty of the brand’s creations while being immersed in the World of Viltier.
