Day in the Life of Jade Ruzzo

C
reating jewelry that “whispers instead of yells,” designer Jade Ruzzo seeks to showcase the permanence of fine jewelry in her work. After studying at FIT and spending a decade in fashion and personal styling, Jade originally launched her collection as an homage to her late father, Vic. Jade’s less-is-more heirlooms are a timeless ode to sentimental moments, and her latest collection, Gloria, is lovingly named after her daughter, whose own name is an eponym for Jade’s great aunt Gloria.

"Family is at the heart of every piece I design."

“Family is at the heart of every piece I design,” she explains. “I launched my brand three years ago as a way to honor my late father, carry him with me and be able to pass those pieces on to my sweet daughter, Gloria. The two never had the chance to meet, a fact that makes my heart ache, but the jewelry I’ve designed in their honor feel like tangible connectors — a beautiful and magical way to bond them.”

We caught up with Jade to get a glimpse into an average day in her world and we discovered that between juggling running her business and her stalwart dedication to motherhood, there’s nothing average about her days!

8:00 AM:  My morning starts with getting my daughter Gloria ready for Summer camp. I help her “style her look” for the day – something she takes very seriously. After I drop her off, I check my emails before heading into NYC.

10:00 AM-  At the showroom, I have a check in with my team to go over projects, inventory and work on new designs. We’re about to launch our new website so we’ve been hard at work fine-tuning all of the little details to get it ready!

11:00 AM- I get to work on new design development. I typically start with a sketch and develop it from there. Some new pieces are launching in September that I’m really excited about.

We recently sourced a stunning antique Old Euro diamond for a long-time client looking to create her own Anna band setting. It was such a fun, collaborative process finding her dream stone. I love seeing the end result and a happy customer.

3:00 PM– I head back upstate and use this time to catch up on work calls from the day.

5:00 PM– I pick up my daughter and mom duties resume. Lately we’ve been hard at work prepping for her upcoming 6th birthday party!
