Harwell Godfrey Nominated for 2022 CFDA American Emerging Designer Awards

he Council of Fashion Designers of America announced its nominees and honorees for the annual CFDA Awards today, and fine jewelry designer Lauren Harwell Godfrey of Harwell Godfrey was named one of five contenders for the American Emerging Designer of the Year. This year’s winners will be announced at a November 7th event in NYC which will also mark the CFDA’s 60th anniversary.

“This year’s nominees reflect the renewed excitement around American fashion generated by designers who are redefining the future of our industry,” said CFDA chief executive Steven Kolb.

“A million thanks to CFDA for this incredible honor,” says Godfrey. “I’m new to CFDA as an interim member and am already wildly impressed at all they do to support and elevate the American design community. The award will be announced on November 7 and I’ve got very stiff competition from my fellow CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Finalists Elena Velez, KidSuper, Bach Mai and Puppets and Puppets. It’s an honor to be in this with you.”

The CFDA will also honor the late Virgil Abloh with the Board of Trustees Award and name Lenny Kravitz as its 2022 fashion icon. Law Roach will receive the organization’s first-ever Stylist Award.
