earls, June’s birthstone, have long been associated with characteristics such as purity, sweetness and innocence. Wearing pearls, as lore goes, can bring one inner calm, peace and an overall sense of well-being. While all of these things may be true, they bring to mind a regular ole strand of pearls or a pair of button pearl earrings. I’m not gonna lie, I do love a classic strand of pearls. About twenty years ago, I had the opportunity to wear a strand of borrowed South Sea pearls to a jewelry industry event and I can still recall how their glow made me feel all…glowy, inside and out! (“Glowy” being a technical term used to describe the feelings pearls can evoke in the wearer, obviously.) Yet I’ll admit, I’ve always filed pearls away in my mental jewelry box as “special occasion” jewelry.
In recent years, however, pearls have been experiencing a renaissance.
