hen we sent out a call for images for a story about jewelry that symbolizes friendship, I really had no idea what to expect. I left it to the creativity of COUTURE’s designers and brands to define the standard for a genre that conveys the quiet joy of true friendship; the ongoing source of laughter from a shared joke with your bestie; the untarnished memories of time together with your favorite people.

The bar they’ve set exceeded my greatest expectations. Elegant and sophisticated, playful and whimsical, the pieces showcased here encapsulate, in both figurative and literal ways, the nostalgic charm of cherished friendships.

A sense of unity and connectedness is conveyed in pieces like Bondeye’s Puzzle collection pendant or dinh van’s Menottes pendant. Big, colorful stones take on even deeper meaning in toi et moi rings, and of course the universal symbol of love, hearts, are interpreted in original and imaginative ways by COUTURE’s talented designers and brands.

Good vibes, peace and love are also abundant in themes drawn from nature, including Helena Rose’s Love Birds medallion and unique interpretations of Man’s Best Friend crafted by both Claudia Mae and Lionheart.

Direct connections with loved ones, past and present, are seen in pieces like Jade Ruzzo’s Cymbal pendant and ÍTÄ’s personalize-able Whirl Rings, while Marie Lichtenberg draws to mind the necklaces emblazoned with “Best Friends” that I spent my childhood coveting.

There are also pieces of profundity, like Chantecler Capris’ bell charm inspired by the bronze bell the brand created and presented to Franklin Delano Roosevelt to symbolize luck, peace and friendship at the end of WWII.

Whether expansive expressions of devotion, or subtle nods of admiration, any of these pieces are deserving of those BFF relationships that are often the greatest loves of people’s lives.
