Uptown, Reimagined: MUSE @ Nordstrom

W
hen Rickie De Sole assumed the role of VP, Fashion Director, at Nordstrom, she had a vision for launching a bespoke jewelry hall at the Flagship store in Manhattan. A long-time admirer of MUSE as a fine jewelry destination, Rickie turned to Jennifer Shanker, owner and operator of the multi-brand West Village shop, to anchor the department.

Since it opened in 2020, the MUSE shop has been lauded for its creative and approachable curation of fine jewelry, books, art, fashion and home décor.

Since it opened in 2020, the MUSE shop has been lauded for its creative and approachable curation of fine jewelry, books, art, fashion and home décor. Showcasing designers Jennifer and her team represent at wholesale, as well as a thoughtful and eclectic mix of designers from outside her roster of clients, the Hudson Street hot spot evokes the cool, laid back essence of the neighborhood. Rickie wanted Jennifer to bring that vibe uptown.

The two first began discussing the possibilities in September of 2024, and by February, bolstered by the support of her long-time friend and brand advisor, Carmen Busquets, an agreement had been reached. On June 27, 2025, MUSE @ Nordstrom officially opened its doors.

“Since our doors on Hudson Street opened, everything we’ve done at MUSE has happened organically,” Jennifer explains. “This partnership is no different, and it’s an honor that Nordstrom has decided to work together to replicate the MUSE customer experience within its walls. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Nordstrom and its impressive team to expand our reach and offer its incredibly loyal customers a new experience for fine jewelry discovery.”

“Jennifer and her team have an incredible eye for curating pieces that feel personal and full of character,” Rickie said of the partnership. “We can’t wait for Nordstrom customers to spend time with MUSE in our new jewelry hall—a space designed to spark creativity, joy and the thrill of discovering something truly special.”

Operating on a “concessions” model, Jennifer worked collaboratively with the team at Nordstrom to build out the shop-in-shop. Dedicated sales associates, employed by MUSE, welcome shoppers into the space, which somehow feels both expansive and intimate. Built in shelving houses a chic array of vases, bowls and boxes in a variety of textures (aka “jewelry for the home”), and custom cases are filled with pieces that highlight the fun, inspiring, stylish side of fine jewelry.

With a combination of MUSE and Friends-of-MUSE brands on display, Jennifer was determined to recreate the magic of her original home. Making subtle tweaks in her merchandizing to ensure she was speaking to the Nordstrom client while also safeguarding her unique point-of-view, Jennifer says she’s already seeing a cross-over in clients that now feel emboldened to shop both the uptown and downtown locations.

The space has already played host to two major events—the official launch party in September, and MUSE’s Have a Heart X Diamonds Do Good event in late October, and given Jennifer’s inescapable ability to draw a crowd, trunk shows and soirees will no doubt begin to fill up jewelry enthusiast’s calendars.

And the location couldn’t be more perfect for sipping on cocktails and ogling fine jewelry. Boasting its own entrance on the corner of 58th and Broadway, MUSE @ Nordstrom feels like a cohesive part of the greater shopping whole, while also maintaining the sense of excitement and discovery that make the MUSE DNA so distinctive.
