Nicole is the high-energy, creative force behind the designs, and Kim’s steady and structured approach to business safeguards the integrity of the brand. A passionate visual artist from a young age and devotee of many mediums, Nicole graduated with a degree in Fine Arts before discovering her love for jewelry design at FIT in New York City. Kim studied Art History at Tulane and continued her studies in Florence, Italy. In returning to New York, Kim and her sister aligned to set the course for their future, and in 2012, Sorellina was born.

Meaning “younger sister” in Italian, Sorellina also translates to “smaller sister.” The name reflects the duo’s embrace of their differences, and the designs showcase the juxtaposition of yin and yang, a balance of masculine and feminine dynamics.

A longtime collector and admirer of Victorian and Art Deco design, Nicole makes what she loves. Influences of these eras are evident throughout the brand’s collections, and Nicole’s interpretation of these motifs evokes her profound understanding of the aesthetic references, expressing narratives of the past through her contemporary lens.

Crafted in 18 karat gold, the brand is knowns for custom-cut and carved stones, bold silhouettes and an intricate application of inlay. Though substantive in its use of exceptional materials and exquisite craftsmanship, there is an undercurrent of whimsy in the designs, a light-heartedness that gives each a sense of joy.

Drawing on themes of nature, architecture, music, spirituality and the cosmos, the pieces are crafted to be worn as a statement of one’s attitude or mood, with the variety of scale and sentiments appealing to collectors of a range of style sensibilities.

Working out of their studio in Brooklyn, the sisters are grateful to focus on areas of the business in which they each thrive, while also constantly expressing their deep appreciation for the other’s contributions and their delight at being able to do what they love as a team.

In an act characteristic of the love so frequently displayed between the two, Nicole avowed from the stage of the Encore Theater while accepting the 2023 COUTURE Design Award for Best in Innovative, “Nothing would be possible without my beautiful, fierce, brilliant sister Kim. You are a force, you are our captain, I love you so much.”
