Curious and observant, Sevan paid close attention to his surroundings, listing to the sounds of birds, trees, places of worship, the voices around him. He marveled at the domes of Hagia Sophia and at Istanbul’s rich history, exploring cultures of Anatolia, Byzantium and the Ottoman Empire.

A virtuoso at the bench, as his skills advance so did his ability to convey through his art the many influences that shaped his worldview. Launching his eponymous brand in 2002, Sevan began collaborating with artists of several mediums to craft entire universes, dreamscapes of past civilizations, surrealist memories, mythology, and the poetry of nature.

This unprecedented approach, and the patience Sevan applies to the engineering of each one-of-a-kind piece, cemented his reputation as a visionary and pioneer.

For Sevan, inspiration can strike at any moment. It could be a feeling, a dream, a memory, and suddenly a cacophony of controlled chaos is unleashed in the Istanbul workshop, Sevan acting as conductor of this grand orchestra. Working alongside sculptors, painters, glassworkers, ceramicists and mosaicists, his atelier of craftspeople spends several months, sometimes more than a year, to bring a single piece to life.

Every hand that plays a part in the journey from concept to creation is uncompromising, bringing to each soulmate collector a range of intention and thoughtfulness in exceptionally crafted designs.

Sevan has an intuitive understanding of the materials with which he works, allowing him to push them to the boundaries of their capabilities. Carving reverse intaglios into rare gemstones with confidence and fearlessly manipulating precious metals, his work is able to express in miniature form great narratives of history, to pay homage to celebrated architectural forms in chic, contemporary designs.

While unquestionably breathtaking, there is also a subtly to Sevan’s work.
