W
hile their backgrounds are varied, the husband and wife team behind fine jewelry brand State Property are both drawn to the permanence and sentiment of the artform. Afzal Imram was trained in Industrial Design at the National University of Singapore and Lin “Rui” Ruiyin excelled in contemporary jewelry at Central St. Martins. Their combined perspective led the duo to explore jewelry’s ability to fully express their creativity, and the inherent attributes ascribed to the mediums of precious metals and gemstones satisfied their desire to create meaning and connections through art.

Their designs are an intimate study in forms and the fluid play of light and shadow; structured silhouettes constructed to interact with the soft valleys and planes of the human form. The couple’s shared fascination with the intersection of Mother Nature and art is bolstered by their sense of adventure. They will go to great lengths to examine the beauty in architecture, translating traditional concepts of art and design through a contemporary lens.
